Christian YouTube

The popularity of Christian tv or YouTube evangelists - and it has to be said the regular flow of many of these evangelists to “fall into sin”, usually on a grand and very public scale - It seems to me that a quick study of the advantages of this type of gospel promotion needs to be looked at. When it comes to preaching the gospel there are many things to consider. For instance how do you compare the preacher, or what indeed makes a good sermon. I have to say I have heard many good sermons in my life but I have to honest, I have had more than my fair share of bad ones!

Christian You Tube, or to be more accurate Christian videos on YouTube, provide a fascinating store of Christian evangelists both present and past. Even long gone evangelists such as Billy Sunday are on YouTube as enterprising individuals have managed to put their Audio sermons to video using graphics instead of actual video.

What is it that makes a good Christian video, you might as well ask, well the same things that make a good Christian sermon. Here are a few of the aspects of a good sermon that I think are worth considering when it comes to comparing Preachers or gospel messages

  1. Delivery. Fact is that even with great content, if a message is not delivered well it is lost on the hearer. This in my mind is the difference between a teacher and a preacher. A teacher needs good content and good delivery in order to get their message across. Andrew Wommack is in my mind a good example of this. He is a good solid teacher of the word-notwithstanding the fact that he is a ‘literal’ interpreter of the Bible-his teaching ability is first class and even if you disagree with the content, you really must know why (through the scriptures), before you write him off or try to discredit his teaching. Andrew seems to have the balance good but possibly tilted in favour of the content.
  1. Content: This as discussed, is probably the main thing if it is the gospel you want to get across, and not your personality! The whole idea after all is to get known the message of Jesus Christ and to bring a soul “into the light”. However if it is a boring sermon (I’ve been there!) then all the great content in the world will not stop an individual from dropping off or wandering all over the solar system in their mind. When it comes to preachers of the calibre of TD Jake's or Reinhard Bonnke  then I’m fairly sure that they could preach a very poor sermon with regards to content, but their delivery would keep you on the edge of your seat.
  1. Relevance: Yes a sermon or preach has to relevant, it should mean something to today's audience otherwise it is merely a history lesson full of character's that no-one can relate to. It must  be relevant to today’s struggles or today’s trials and tribulations, in order to be of any interest at all. Joyce Meyer is perhaps an example of a good preacher who falls neatly into this category. She is well able to preach on subjects that are very close to the heart and very close to the situations and circumstances surrounding people today, managing to bring out the reality of the gospel message and show it in a present day light.

Christian Video

Christian video creates a wonderful opportunity to bring the gospel to the masses,at least the ones with Internet access:) to truly promote the gospel of Jesus Christ through a huge range of preachers, some great and some quite simply appalling! Christian YouTube video’s in particular have been picked up and transported throughout the Internet by an abundance of independent websites. In the not so distant past we were all stuck with the preaching of the local minister/pastor. Not so today, there are a huge range of sermons to listen to should you be so inclined. More importantly perhaps though is the fact that the gospel is getting out there and more people coming to Christ as a result. it is now possible to be encouraged afresh and even to compare the preacher and their abilities online from the luxury of your own armchair, great news !
